Etymology: The name comes from "Dîw" (Dw) meaning demon or goblin (efrît) in Kurdish. There is a Kurdish tribe named Dîwan in the Diyarbekir regions. It is also one of the villages of the Mirdês Kurdish tribe in Turkey, located on the slope of a mountain called Çiyayê Dîwan. Perhaps the name was a nickname for a person who lived in the village in ancient times, or who belonged to that tribe.

There is a Kurdish tribe named Dîwan in the Diyarbekir regions. It is also one of the villages of the Mirdês Kurdish tribe in Turkey, and it is located on the slope of a mountain called Çiyayê Dîwan. Perhaps the name was a nickname for a person who lived in the village in ancient times, or who belonged to that tribe.
They are two villages, Upper and Lower: Dîwan Jêrin and Dîwan Hoko.
Dîwan Tehtanî (Lower Diwan) / 400 inhabitants - 175m altitude /: It is located north of the village of Dîwan Foqanî, beside the Çemê Efrîn (Afrin river). It is a small village that belonged to its owner "Mistefa Hoko" and was named after him. He sold it to the El-Sibaî family in Heleb in the thirties of the last century, then he emigrated and settled in the town of Rêhanî (Reyhanli) in Turkey.

Dîwan Tehtanî: A farm in Deşta Jûmê and Geliyê Efrîn, following the subdistrict of Cindirês, region of Efrîn, governorate of Heleb. It is a small farm located on the western slope of the western Çiyayê Seman chain.
It is bordered on the north by a fertile agricultural plain, the valley of the Çemê Efrîn, and the village of Medaya. On the south, by the mountain heights of the western Çiyayê Seman chain, the village of Selo, and Atme which belongs to the Idlib governorate, Harem region. On the east, by mountain heights and the nearby village of Xirbe Elûş. On the west, by a fertile plain planted with olive and pomegranate trees and the village of Dîwan Foqanî.
The number of its houses reaches about 5 houses and its age is 40 years; it is a modern farm. An electricity network is available there, and an asphalt road passes near it leading to the village of Dîwan Foqanî and the village of Dêr Belût. Its residents work in the cultivation of olives, walnuts, grains, and vegetables, using pumping from the waters of the Çemê Efrîn or artesian wells, alongside raising sheep and goats.
Among the families present in the village is the Diyab family.
Among the social figures in the village is Hec Subhî Diyab.
The village mukhtar is Mihemed Elo.

Foundation/Origin Information of Dêwê Jêrin
It belonged to its owner "Mustafa Hoko" and was named after him. He sold it to the Sibai family (آل السباعي) in Aleppo in the thirties of the last century, then emigrated and settled in Reyhanli town in Turkey.
