Şêx Reşîd is a tomb shrine of Be'dîna in the Reco sub-district.

Dedicated Figure & Historical Roots

The tomb is that of Şêx Reşîd, remembered as a founder of the village. It is well known, and people make their vows there.1 A cave named Şikefta Şêx Reşîd also lies among the caves of Xelnêrê.

Dr. Mihemed Ebdo Elî, the historian and geographer of the Afrin region, names Şêx Reşîd among the shrines that popular memory continues to produce around recently deceased holy figures. He describes Şêx Reşîd as a well-known devout dervish who lived with a congenital nervous condition. The people held him to be blessed, wove legends and supernatural stories around his person, and after his recent death his burial place became a shrine where visitors present sacrifices and seek blessing.2
