General Information
Ritual Practices & Beliefs
Kewsane lies west of Şîlte'tê, between Şîlte'tê and Mersewa. People visited especially on Wednesdays, and people still go there. Visitors came for leg pain, headaches, knee and elbow pain, childlessness, and healing. They used the shrine's teberik, blessed material taken from the shrine site, and looked for relief.1

Quote: "Ev kewsana jî, Çarşem Çarşem, milet ji her derê xwe li vî kewsanî digirin. ... Heger ê ku ling êşîn, ê ku qiçik tine ne ... serê êşandin, yanî kab û an dê êşin ... Dê hatin li wê karsanê xwe derman dikirin. Yanî wek dibêjin tebereka gund çêdikirin. Xwe bi wê teberekê xwe derman dikirin ... Ev jî taybet roja Çarşemê dihatin çêkirin ... Rojavayê gund dikeve ... Di navbera me û Mersawa da, ev karsana heye. Heta niha jî milet daren, her wext milet daren, ziyaret dikin. Kesên ku serê dêşin, kesên ku ling dêşin, kesên ku qiçik ji wan re çênabin, daren ziyaret dikin, û bi hesiya, encamê şîfa digerin yanî." English translation: "This Kewsane too, Wednesday after Wednesday, people from everywhere go to Kewsane. ... If their legs hurt, if they have no children ... if their heads hurt, or their knees and elbows hurt ... they came to Kewsane to heal themselves. They made the village's blessing, as they say. They treated themselves with that blessing ... This was done especially on Wednesdays ... It lies west of the village ... This Kewsane is between us and Mersewa. Even now people go; all the time people go and visit. Those whose heads hurt, whose legs hurt, and those who cannot have children go and visit, and with hope they look for healing." ↩
