The Marmarûn shrine (Arabic: مار مارون) is one of the shrines of Bircilqazê.
A tomb attributed to the same figure at Beradê is covered separately at Mar Maron.
Dedicated Figure & Historical Roots
A local account says that, after Marmarûn died, disagreement arose among the villages around Mount Lêlûn. The village of Barad was the best known, and its people took Marmarûn's remains and buried them at Kenîse Julyanos (Julyanos Church), where the tomb still stood when the account was given.1
