Dedicated Figure & Historical Roots

A local resident identifies the spot as Mar Maron's tomb and a Christian place. He says Christians, sheikhs, and political figures came there, including Sileman Ferençiye, Nebîl Berrî, the Syrian president, Bouthaina Shaaban, and Farouk al-Sharaa.1

A local account recorded at Bircilqazê says that, after Marmarûn died, disagreement arose among the villages around Mount Lêlûn. The village of Barad was the best known, and its people took Marmarûn's remains and buried them at Kenîse Julyanos, where the tomb still stood when the account was given.2
