Physical & Landscape Features
The shrine is a rock at the top of the jagged mountain above the village, also called Kevrê Qendîl, the Rock of Qendil, qendîl meaning candle or lamp. The rock stands between two shrines, about one hundred and fifty metres from one of them, and the whole area is known by the names of Qere Baba and the Rock of Qendil. The villagers say they do not know where the name came from.2
